A typical tourist's card, sent from Saint-Tropez ...

Yes, the postcard was dead! Yes, there are some old fashioned tourist who still write nonsense home, like „Greetings from …“ or „The weather is fine, the food lousy …“. But 99 % of the travellers make people at home envious by sending something through electronical channels. Just remember the occasion when you had bought a stamp for a postcard the last time? Gosh, it must be ages ago. But now the postmaster in the French department VAR published an amazing figure: Tourist had sent about 1,2 million postcards, very old fashioned indeed,  and much more postcards than 2012 – and nobody knows why they turned back the wheel of communication. Well, in VAR are touristic hotspots like St-Tropez, St-Maxime, Pampelonne, Grasse and Draguign. But rather enjoyed by rich people, not by all-inclusive-travellers. Do the well-to-do write postcards again? I doubt it, and therefore I can’t explain the phenomenon. I only want to give you the news …
