Rudolf Höss, moments before his hanging ...

He was a friendly, good looking, even erudite monster, this Rudolf Höss from the paradisic spa Baden-Baden in Germany. From 1940 to 1943 he was the commandant of the KZ Auschwitz and during his reign of terror 2,43 million jews (Höss himself confessed) were killed, often by himself. After the war Germany extradited him to Poland, there he was sentenced to death and on April 16, 1947, Höss was hanged by an old-fashioned hangman with a black hood in front of his former residence – on the grounds of Auschwitz. Höss was the last person to die there by force and was 47 years old. If you visit Auschwitz (Oświęcim in Polish), remember that there was one man who was killed under the applause of the world …
