Khmer Rouge

That's how the „Khmer Rouge“ once behaved ...

Khmer Rouge

… now they want to dance in discos like this one

WHEN I HEARD IT, I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT! But it’s true: The „Khmer Rouge“, who killed roughly a third of their compatriot, the Cambodians, between 1975 and 1978 – in just three years! – amounting to 1,7 or up to 2,2 million people, are ALIVE! What’s more: They are known, they show themselves, they claim to be a political fraction and force. And what happens, while their most ruthless killers and torturers are brought to trial in the capital of Phnom Penh, and some of their worst atrocities are shown in the „Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum“? They formed strange rules of co-existence: The „Khmer Rouge“ are not allowed to wear their black garb in public, and they are not allowed to demonstrate for their cause. And if they do, what is their punishment? And now you wouldn’t believe it either – since the „Khmer Rouge“ are all young people (mostly the children of the old communist fighters), they are not allowed to visit the Discos on Saturday evening, after wearing the killers dress and demonstrating in the streets!!! What a penalty!!! When they ruled the country, places like discos, music, dancing, drinking alcohol and even laughing was forbidden, you could be killed (beaten to death) for it. And now the young „Khmer Rouge“ take care not to break the rules because they want to go to the discos on Saturday evenings …! Well, in a way it shows that the ideology of this communist movement in Cambodia is stonedead. That’s wonderful. It died for a dance …
